Regarding: "How was your trip? Is it really getting back close to the way it was before Katrina?"

I always love going to Louisiana. Is New Orleans close to how it was before Katrina? Absolutely not. On the surface, it's alive but don't look close. More affluent areas -- including the Quarter because it's where tourists flock -- appear nearly "normal." Go across the Intracoastal Canal into the 9th Ward & Arabi, & the old downtown area that's stood for generations, & there are structures nearly as they were the day the hurricane hit, w/o water. Doors hang open, holes in walls, garbage & debris all over & piled high on streets. Across from my cousin's ruined home in Arabi is a house with, "Moved to Albuquerque" painted in huge letters.

Very sad!

You had me w/"New Orleans," my favorite-est place in the country & home of my ancestors! Just got back from there.

All the best to you. Love your book covers!
