Hi Dario,

The problem is in ease of communication not in personal preference. I live in Wales where the Welsh language is the second language and English is the first language simply because the rest of UK and the world can converse in English, but very few people from outside of Wales could hold a conversation in Welsh.

English may become the dominant language on the web for the next fifty years (or less) but, eventually, Chinese will be the most used language on the web. It will be interesting to see to what extent western culture adopts Chinese as a means of communicating. I won't be around to know!

Well, there are more people in China who speak Chinese that people in USA and UK who speak English, but there are more people in world who speak ALSO English as a second language rather than Chinese. The handicap of Chinese are two:

1. hanzi: writing and reading Chinese is very difficult, for Chinese people too; ideograms are a complicated way to communicate, more than phonetic alphabets,
2. pronunce: you have to manage four different tones and it is not so easy.

So, it is more probable that some automatic translation tool will allow bidirectional communications rather than western people speak Chinese. IMHO
