Martha Jette Primary Character in my book needs our help.

Hello Everyone: The primary character in my book, Playing With The Devil, needs as much help and support as possible. The book is a novel based on a true story of the horrid abuses suffered by 12 children in one Canadian family during the 50's and early 60's. These kids were mentally, emotionally, physic… Continue

Laurel-Rain Snow EXPLORING AMBER'S WORLD

To say that the character, Amber Cushing, is tempestuous, impulsive and out-of-control would be an understatement. But after meeting her mother, and after learning more about her childhood experiences, it is much easier to understand, and perhaps even empathize, with the apparently wrong choices of her life. In fact, you may find yourself cheering her on in her quest for love and acceptance. As she hurtles down one path or another, you will also meet others along the way: characters like Denise… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Why do we Bully Celebrities?

Another week and another Google Alert. I opened one recently that talked about celebrities who were bullied growing up. Also, saw information on the recent book written by Miley Cyrus entitled Miles to Go where bullies locked her in a bathroom for over an hour and she thought nobody would ever come and save her. Jessica Simpson mentioned having eggs thrown at her house and toilet papered. Others like Tom Cruise and Taylor Swift also shared memories of being at the hands of these little criminals… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Montana Lawmakers Enable Bullying

Recently, I wrote a statement for SB 494 in Montana about the psychological affects that occur when peer abuse at work is occurring. A woman who was abused at work drew up the legislative information and spoke last week to these lawmakers about this. There is now a chance this bill may die. The workplace has become a battleground in many cases. Office politics is a serious problem and like cancer, does not seem to want to diminish anytime soon. Bullies come in and keep things in an uproar. Micr… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Adult Survivors and the Bully

This past Friday, my mother called and told me about something in her local newspaper about adults who were bullied as children encountering their former bullies on social sites such as Facebook and MySpace. As this is something I am dealing with in my own life right now, I really wanted to see this and did a search online. Its not only me but other adult survivors of peer abuse are facing this on these sites. I have had several tell me about this. One became so upset all over again that it was… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett More Peer Abuse in this Nation

Over the weekend I was sent a message about recent events in New Berlin, Wisconsin. This latest escapade is a mind blower yet not surprising. Normally this would fall under sexual predator behavior but I consider it a problem of Peer Abuse as well. A young man, Anthony R. Stancl, who is 18 years old got on the popular site Facebook and pretended to be a girl. As a girl, he got 31 boys, from ages 13 to 19, from his school to send naked pictures to him on the computer. He used this to his advanta… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Bullying is NEVER a Good Thing

As I was sorting through my daily Google Alerts, I found this article amongst the bunch. As a rule of thumb, I try and write about bullying and abuse by peers that occurs in the United States. However, this article which came from India really jumped out at me. If the title alone is not discouraging, the article itself is chop full of reasons to defend this problem we face. How can bullying be a good thing? I understand the fact that children need to learn that life is hard and not always nice.… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett No More Abuse! Please!

I recently read an article in the New York Times about women in the workplace. It was a great article and the source, Peggy Klaus, knows what she is talking about. She was dead on in her assessment of women and how they treat one another. We would like to think that when we get a group of ladies together, the relational aggression leaves the building and sisterhood and maturity take priority. This is so far from the truth. Lets face it. Women are covert in their abuse and the workplace is of no… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Really? No Kidding!

You know, there are some days when you just try and understand why some do not see what is right in front of their faces. I know, I know….not everyone is going to instinctively get that bullying (Peer Abuse) is a serious problem and that maybe those who engage in these behaviors are “just not wired right”. Well, as an Adult Survivor of Peer Abuse who lived 27 years of this nightmare, I am here to say that yes, finally someone has done some experimentation on this. What I am referring to is a rec… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Its Not All About You, Blair!

Well, as I told myself I was never planning to watch The CW’s show Gossip Girl, I wound up catching it again last night. I gave it some thought and someone needs to get the word out that this show may be some sort of mockery of the rich and famous but also glorifies the serious problem of relational aggression in teen girls. The content has gotten sadistic after last weeks stint with the hair burning by a group of minions or wannabees if you will. In a nutshell, I cannot let this go. Sure, I cou… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Must We Feed the Bully?

Recently, I heard about this new book entitled “101 Facts About Bullying: What Everyone Should Know” and even though I have not read it, I do commend the author for taking a stand against the problem. Every bit helps in educating on this serious subject. One point made in the book is that bullies can become victims and visa versa depending on situations and circumstances. Also, that it is not always good to fight back with bullies as that keeps the problem going. I have been saying both all alo… Continue

Elizabeth Bennett Peer Abuse & Relational Aggression

Hi, I know……I have been gone for a week. Well, maybe more than a week. However, my mother came to visit me for mothers day and am just getting back in the swing of things. Ah, a workshop on Relational Aggression. Again, many kudos to Susan Fee of the New Jersey shore area for getting this up and getting educated on this serious subject. She will be working with some local Girl Scouts in this. If there is a group that this problem exists in, its Girl Scouts. I know because for six weeks in the s… Continue
