All the chatters were American, and as interested in the humour as much as the plot of Melmerby Manor, but the biggest problem with it was the timing. We began at…

I frequently get asked what prompted me to write a story about a mother who kills. It's a fair question. If you told me five years ago that I'd be writing about this subject, I might have looked at you like you had banana peel shoes. (And if you do own a pair of banana peel shoes, I mean no disrespect, but I hope you have good insurance.)
Ultimately, I did write about the subject of maternal filicide, but not without a good bit of trepidation. Though JANEOLOGY is set in motion by this troubling…

Recently an old classmate of mine from Randolph High School back in Massachusetts got in touch with me via e-mail. He caught me up on a few things in his life, and a few things about a mutual friend and classmate. With our 30-year high school reunion coming up in October, it got me to thinking about where my life has been. He mentioned in his e-mail that I should try to send a note home to let everyone know whether I would be attending, and to let them know what I’ve been up to. This is a summar…

Here's the latest review to appear on the Amazon.com (US) site. I particularly appreciate this lady's words as she appears to be something of a Ripper student who normally doesn't read fictional works on the subject. I read her other reviews of a number of ripper books and four stars appears to be her top rating for any of them

It has been a very difficult few days, our worst fears confirmed. One of my son's college age friends went missing on Wednesday night, and her body was found this morning. She had been kidnapped, robbed and murdered. There are many stories circulating out there, and I'm not entirely sure what the whole truth is. But she had gotten into some trouble in the past year, and had agr

'A Study in Red' has this morning reached the heady heights of #16 in the Amazon.co.uk Jack the Ripper books bestselling listings, it's highest position yet. Yesterday it was at #41, so some serious sales have taken place in the last 24 hours to cause such a meteoric rise up the chart. I never thought my book would ever appear in a Best Seller list of any sort, so I'm more than thrilled with it's performance.

Hi there!
Well, I’m happy to say that I got many wonderful pictures while visiting Germany this season. I was able to get landscapes, and old castles, and hundreds of pictures of Laura! That should make it easier to illustrate the next book. Right now I’m completing the next story (book 2) and storyboarding at the same time—it’s how I prefer to work. I think I definitely have enough new material for my next two books which was my goal, so I’m glad for that. I also plan to do a little experiment…

She is diabolical, she is deceitful, she is dreadful, she is a killer, and she's a mother that no child wants to have. She is the nightmare no real man wants to have. Kidnapping and murder have devoured her fat soul. My skillfully written crime fiction novel is heart pounding, thought provoking, jaw dropping, and wickedly informative. Its funny buy very serious. It is very good to be aware of where our children are and what they are doing; but what about women and other vulnerable adults staying safe as well? As adults, we are the only ones who can tell ourselves what we can do to stay safe. Here are a couple of pointers:
Don’t park in an area that will be dark and shielded from view, especially if you know it will be after nightfall when you go to retrieve your car. Use valet parking when it is available.

Step one: Make sacrifices to get the book written
Charles Bock, author of Beautiful Children, has said,
"Truth is I worked on this novel for 10 years. Not ten years of watching Seinfeld at 11 PM. Ten years of a high priority in my life. When I was dating the woman who is now my wife, I would only go out with her two nights a week because I couldn't give more time to that.

When the hands of your journey reach down to guide

Remember your shoes that have come through it all

Not only to try on but wear
One gave you shoes just like all the rest
To judge if life has been fair
The rarest of shoes are made from truth
And can walk you through any test

We know he is the master of horror. We know he started life dirt poor. But I just discovered (after watching the Stephen King biography via youtube -- the link is on the front page--) he found it hard to write his next story after Salem's Lot. He had many starts that seemed to go nowhere. This was when he moved from Maine to Boulder, Colorado.
