Profile Information

My hometown:
Riverton, Utah, is a fast-growing community twenty miles south of Salt Lake City. Though growth is fast paced, there is still a small town feel and the people are friendly and caring. I live in a senior adult condominium community called the Farms at Tithing Hill (where else but in Utah?). The name comes from the tithing yard and barn that graced the property more than a century ago when people often payed tithing with farm produce and animals rather than money. The tithing barn is still intact and is the centerpiece of a little park adjacent to our tithing settlement. No one could have better and more caring neighbors than I have here.
My books:
I have written three books. My most recent book is entitled I WILL MAKE OF THEE A GREAT NATION. Published in early 2009, it is a unique collection of more than 200 stories written for an adult Christian audience.

The second book I will mention is the award-winning "HOW OFTEN WOULD I HAVE GATHERED YOU. It was published in March 2007 by American Book Publishing. It is also a collection of more than 200 stories from the Old Testament, but it was aimed primarily at a Latter-day Saint audience. This book was given the Golden Quill Publication Award" by the League of Utah Writers in 2007. It was also named a "Top Ten Read" for 2007 on MyShelf.com by Carolyn Howard-Johnson).

Both books tell the stories of Old Testament prophets, priest, and kings and of Jehovah's dealings with His covenant people. They are told in modern English. Both books have original illustrations, two indexes (to names and to subjects), maps for geographical perspective, footnotes for insights and background, and an extensive pronunciation guide.

My third book, THE RESEARCHER'S GUIDE TO AMERICAN GENEALOGY, was first published in 1973 by Genealogical Publishing Company in Baltimore. It has been in its third edition since 2000 and is still considered the best textbook on American genealogical research. The Researcher's Guide has sold well over 100,000 copies and is now considered a classic. Though it deals with a complicated subject, it is well organized and easy to read and understand. It is helpful to both the beginning researcher and those with much experience because it is general reference book on the subject as well as a textbook.
