You can't get here from there. That's what I like best about it. For the most part, it is a place stuck in the 1950s. The internet and cable keeps me connect to the real world, but when I walk out the door, I don't have to put up with it.
My books:
A Higher Good, based upon an NDE I had as a teenager and the resulting philosophy.
I've also been a free-lance writer/photographer for over 30 years, with way over 1,000 articles and columns published. I make my living from free-lance writing, which means I've learned to live far below the poverty level.
I live in such a place myself (NM). I wouldn't leave my beloved mountains for anything. Glad to hear there are still other places like that in America.
I've read your NDE on the NDE website and was totally blown away by it. I found it to be spectacularly written and so descriptive. The way you felt with regards to people after your NDE I have felt my whole childhood - I could look into someones eyes and see their lives and know what was good or bad about their situation. I spent a good number of years not making eye contact as a result. At any rate I'd like to get a copy of your book and I am confused as to how to get a copy where you will actually benefit. I went on to Amazon. com and was completely shocked by all the different prices and shops that I have never heard of. I'd rather get my copy from you and pay you directly. My email address is rockettme@state.gov I was visiting the NDE site for several reasons, my older brother died when he was 3 and came back and remembers everything, also my younger step-brother died and came to visit me before he left and I saw the light the colors that he was made of. I'm also really keen on expanding my mind and soul this life time and anything I can get hold of to make that happen the better. Well take care and hope to hear from you! Mary

Hi Ron! Thanks for the comment. I was just trying out the different possibilities like a small kid, you know, and had to bail out due to circumstances beyong my control. Hope you like it now.Have a nice day.

Satis
Ron,
I didn't know Mark Twain said that about Kentucky. In Germany they say that about Austria. I suppose there's always someone or someplace that is supposed to be backward from the rest of the world. If backward means "slower-paced" than that's the kind of place that suits me. In fact it is that way where I live now.
Good to meet you, Dennis. We poor hicks need to stick together, least some shined up cityslicker comes along. Actually, I lived in St. Louis for a good number of years and for a whole lifetime one year in Chicago. I've been in West Virginia a couple of times too. Great country.
Back in the sticks is the best place to be poor.
RON,
I LIKED YOUR NOTE TO LEON, I SENT HIM THE SAME TYPE MESSAGE. WE HAVE A FEW THINGS IN COMMON. I AM FROM MAN,WEST VIRGINIA AND I LIVE IN A WONDERFUL SMALL TOWN IN WESTERN NORTH CARALINA CALLED ROBBINSVILLE. I ALSO HAVE MADE MY LIVING FROM PHOTOS AND WRITING, SO I KNOW ALL ABOUT BEING A POOR OLD BOY.
