I was raised on the bluffs above the Missippi in Southwestern Illinois and roamed the woods of our land there as a girl. I've returned to this area now. I live in St. Louis and frequently visit my nonegenarian father at the homeplace.
My books:
"Sightlines: A Poet's Diary" is a downhome family love story beyond death told in accessible story-poems.
Charlotte, your column is witty, insightful, clever, lyrical, and down-to-earth. What an amazing combination of qualities in a writer.
Thanks for the story of reading by candlelight in St. Louis. I spent 5 years in Africa, so I can surely relate. Many a night we read by our Aladin Lamps...and discovered the true meaning of treasure.
Hi Janet,
I enjoyed visiting your website. I've driven through St Louis often. I was there last summer when you had that terrible thunderstorm and there was no electricity. I had a speaking engagement on Sunday morning and it was the first time I had done so by candlelight! Must admit, it made feel right at home since I live in Turkey and electric cuts are more common to us there. Hope to stay in touch and encourage one another. Visit my column:
