Profile Information

My hometown:
I'm a Christian writer, a wife and mother, and grandmother to the four cutest little scalawags on the topside of the earth! In addition, God "specially blessed" me with three very special grandchildren when my daughter married their father - and now He's given me an adorable, "specially blessed" little great grandson.

Until recently, we lived in Bakersfield, California. I had resided in and around this desert town my entire life. In September, however, my husband and I moved from California to Okmulgee, Oklahoma - leaving our precious family in Bakersfield...ouch! But two of my special grandchildren - and that adorable new one - live within a couple of hours of me. That's a blessing!
My books:
My historical romance novel, Goldeneyes, was released March 31, 2008, through Vintage Romance Publishing. Praise the Lord! I'm currently working on a follow-up novel and a dynamic book of devotions. I hope to be able to place them both quickly.

I enjoy reading and writing, of course (doesn't every author?), singing, playing piano, word games, and loud, happy family gatherings ... above all, I love God and family - both natural and spiritual. Here's hoping I'll meet a bunch more of the spiritual variety right here on PublishedAuthors!

My monthly newsletter, The Bookshelf, has been well-received. I'd love for all of you to join my e-mail list (which I guard like a mean junkyard dog)! You can see this month's edition at www.bookshelfnewsletter.blogspot.com.

When I'm not writing or doing any of the things I already mentioned, I like to design bookmarks for authors, using the cover art from their books. It's a lot of fun, and the designs sometimes turn out so attractive even I am surprised! :D You can see my work on my website.

Web Sniper

I've been sniped. My web address (delialatham.com) was mine yesterday morning. Yesterday afternoon it suddenly belonged to someone in India. According to my records, I was paid up through October '09, so - unless I've made a mistake in my records - I didn't lose it because I let it lapse.

What a blow! Every single piece of marketing material I have - and believe me, there are lots of pieces - contains that web address and the e-mail attached to it (delia@delialatham.com). Neither… Continue

Writers Write

Writers Write ... Right?

I’ve always loved quotes. You know, those wonderful little words of wisdom from various sources that just make you stop for a moment and think.

My grandmother must have passed that down to me. Her tattered, well-read Bible was filled with quotes. They were scribbled inside both covers and on the blank pages at front and back. Even the margins of a printed page wasn’t exempt if a particular scripture brought to mind some witty little saying she’d heard or read – or even… Continue

Blessings from the Top of the Tree

A few days ago, we had a pretty rough windstorm—pretty rough for around these parts, anyway. Not anything approaching tornado severity, but enough to knock down a few trees, tear off a bunch of roof tiles and stir up some pretty nasty allergies.

My husband, Johnny, has severe lung problems, so winds have become something to dread. They often bring on a week or so of tough times for him.

This morning, Aunt Vera dropped by our place, her arms piled high with three plastic grocery bags. All of th… Continue

Delia, please tell me how you pulled that off, getting them to release your contract. Believe it or not I have been wanting to do the same thing. I know High-Profile Murderer is a great novel and have best-seller written all ovet it. I just can't afford to promote it like I would like. I am in the process of looking for an agent for all my other projects. Please tell me how to go about getting my contract released. Thanks for all your help Delia. I honestly don't know what I would do without you. You are a great friend.

Hello Delia,
So nice to hear from you. How is Golden Eyes coming along? I have beeen trying to complete my second novel for the past year, and have only gotten to chapter four; talk about a writer's block. High-Profile Murderer is being reprinted. There were so many typos that I didn't see. My sister-in-law called me when she read it and said she couldn't believe how many there were. I caught a few of them when I read over my copy as well as a few other people, but we didn't see all the ones she saw. To my suprise PublishAmerica agreed to do a reprint even though it's been out awhile. I also took out most of the language I was feeling embarrassed about, now I feel more comfortable presenting it to a wider audience.

It is so good hearing from you Delia. I will probably be needing your services soon, I have a big event coming up in November. Please pray for me that I overcome this writer's block I have. I will talk with you soon. Have a blessed day!
