I thought I was writing a brief introduction, smile.
Hi,
My name is Chris Tatevosian, I am 47 and I was diagnosed with MS 29 years ago when I was a freshman in college. The disease was relapsing remitting for about 12 years before becoming secondary progressive. I was married to the woman of my dreams in 1992 and we battled the disease together for nine years before divorcing. Today I have written a book titled "Life Interrupted - its not all about me" . This book chronicles my life with MS before during and after my first marriage.
I would love to share my story with anyone dealing with MS or any chronic illness whose life has become strained because of life being interrupted by this disease causing one person to become disabled and another to become the caregiver. I think my book could help everyone in this situation. I wrote this book “Life Interrupted-It’s Not All About Me” as a guide to help those with chronic illness or disability keep their relationships strong and loving.
The book guides others with multiple sclerosis, chronic illness or disability to control feelings of self-pity, worthlessness and diminishing self-esteem in order to keep their relationships strong and loving. A physically debilitating illness is difficult enough, I strive to help others avoid allowing this situation from becoming emotionally crippling as well. Open, frank and filled with invaluable advice, this is a book for anyone who wants to deal positively with illness or strengthen a relationship.
Chronic illness can strike anyone at any time. But long illnesses don’t just affect one person, they affect the whole family. Like I said before I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis when I was a young man. Without realizing it, my “poor me” attitude, and difficulties with coping with the disease cost me what I felt was a marriage made in heaven. Could I have done something differently? I share with readers many of the destructive, relationship-busting behaviors to avoid as well as the helpful, healing ones to implement. I give a firsthand account of multiple sclerosis, including the drugs and treatments which have been particularly beneficial for me. Stressing compassion and understanding for other family members, I also assert that my deep faith helped me through rocky times. By sharing my experiences, I hope to give readers the awareness, knowledge and understanding they need to deal more positively with the emotional and physical stresses put on a relationship interrupted by MS and disability in general. Warmly written and bravely told, this is a perfect book for patients, caregivers, or anyone looking to heal a relationship.
God bless,
Chris
