Here is one I created and put on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVGVvXhqZno I'd love it if another author would leave a comment if they liked it. Positive comments from one's peers is invaluable. -RKO

Yes, I created one with a popular singer in our area. I've had some good comments and Youtube gave it a five star rating. The results in book sales is invisible though. One like to think it added to sales but one is never sure. Thanks for posting,…

me too. It is more of a challenge when the history one is interested in does not necessarily match what many in the reading public is interested in. In addition, when you publish with a company like McFarland (whom I like), they charge a rate of $40…

By the way, I love history. I enjoy making history more than writing, but there is no greater lesson than seeing what worked and did not work in history to help us in the future. Nothing moves me more.

I am one of those Necessity being the mother of invention writers. I do not have the money to do it professionally, so I did em myself! Any free adverts we can get is always appreciated.

Wow, that's a huge number of views. That has to translate to sales or at least get your book in peoples' minds. Congratulations!

Hi Janet: That's great that the video brought more visitors to your site. Advertisers talk about needing people to see something several times before they become committed to making a purchase. The trailer was one and the site was the second.

OK, I went over and looked and it is called MicroSoft Movie Maker. I think it even has a tutorial on it. Janet

Brett, Thanks for speaking up. It's been awfully quiet around these parts. As for trailers for our books, I have one (at least) for each of my books, some individual ones and some for the series. They have had a fair amount of views (up to the hundr…

Here are my trailers for Nimrod Rising, Stillborn and Patriot Acts: Steven Clark Bradley's Video Book Trailers

Very good job! I have done several trailers for my books and the last time I tallied the views, it came to about 80,000 and that's all for free. Each one I did got better and I learned to do these out of necessity. I think they are very important to…

Do you think we can improve sales of our books with book trailers? I spent $400 to have one made for my Hollywood Bohemians book. I had a friend create this one for me: http://revver.com/video/1644199/capital-sporting-grounds-by-brett-l-abrams/ I'm…

Brett L. Abrams added a discussion to the group Marketing & Promotion
Hi: This is an interesting avenue to promote books. There are at least 15 web sites where you can upload videos made about your book. I tried it with my first book to some small success in sales. The first trailer cost me $400. A friend recently cr…

A place to share marketing-related tips or stories, and ask questions relating to your particular situation.

This is a good idea. There is also the NCIS (independent scholars group) that has local groups to critique people's writing.

Brett,

Thank you for sharing and acknowledging our similarities. I love the subject matter of both your books and what I've read so far on your website.

No I haven't been. Sounds great though. Looking at your Hollywood Bohemians title makes ME think of my sister's book "The Explicit Body in Performance," though hers is an academic treatise on gender performance artists in NYC mostly...

Good luck in Peru. By the way, what do you use this network for? I joined a while back and have hardly been on it again...
