I hear that! Like most other writers, I hate all this necessary evil called marketing. Used to be, writers wrote and publishers sold. Alas, those days are gone forever. But worst of all, I have trouble finding time to WRITE anymore! What is wrong with this picture?

Like you, I'm experiencing "site overload." Between this site, MySpace, Communati, my own blogs, LinkedIn, and my own web site, it's hard to keep up. I constantly ask, what part of this effort is having an impact on my writing, my learning of the craft and my sales.

My conclusion is that sites must provide news about NAME authors or they will never attract readers' attention to midlist and new authors. None of us can make a living just selling our books to each other, nor can we afford to buy a copy of every one's book on every site. We need "outside people" to come on each site we're part of who will then become interested in what we're all doing.

That's a long way of saying why it took me a couple of months to find your message about the FL writers conference back in November.

Sigh...I'm getting overextended with sites.

Now that it's getting chilly, even in the South, we'll have more time to hibernate inside either with a good book or a promising manuscript.

Hope you are doing well and writing a lot.

Did you see that Melanie of Proud Spirit fame has joined the group here?? What a great addition she will be!

Hi Russ,

Nice to see you over here at Published Authors. I sort of wandered in by accident since I joined NING to help promote the new Gaelic film (with English subtitles) called "Seachd." Nice to see familar faces here.

Law Enforcement Expert Lauds CROSSHAIRS

My recently released suspense novel, CROSSHAIRS, (www.russheitz.com) has received an excellent review from a man who knows about crime, criminals and law enforcement, Sgt. Jim Potter of the Hutchinson, Kansas, Sheriff's Department. Jim says: "CROSSHAIRS packs a powerful punch from the first page to the last ... and has more curves than the Pennsylvania landscape in which the novel takes place ... Heitz is a splendid story teller, my head is still spinning."… Continue
