The Author Collective is here to help the unknown, little known and soon to be well known self-published author put their writings in the faces of the people who buy in quantity. We also give guidance to writers wanting to publish and print their books. This no cost information saves our members thousands of dollars over the so-called self-publishing houses.

Join us as we brave the chilly (cold) temperatures of Boston, MA. this January for the American Library Association Mid-Winter Conference. This is a terrific and affordable way to showcase your book to more than 9,000 staff members from libraries around the country.

Glad tidings and warm thoughts Fellow Authors,

We've decided to brave the cold. January 15 through 19, 2010 the Author Collective will shake hands with and share a cup of warm cider with 9,000 plus librarians of the northeast United States and elsewhere. The American Library Association Mid-Winter will be held in Boston, Massachusetts and what better way to showcase your book?

Past conventions have indicated that two specific genres are now in big demand, "Children" and "Urban" titles. As such we are planning to include a separate section in our booth dedicated to Urban Fiction and Non-Fiction plus books that instruct and educate children from pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. We are now looking for authors who have such topics. If your writings fit these categories you should join the Author Collective TODAY!

Our goal is to help the self-published and un-known,under-known and soon to be well known author, get their craft in front of the people who make decisions to buy books in quantity. Sign up for the Author Collective today and get an extra month of membership FREE. That's right, join any time in December 2009 and your membership will not expire until January 1, 2011.

Don't let this opportunity pass you bye. Call me TODAY!

BOOK TOUR BASICS CLASS: Hello everyone! I've been slaving over a non-fiction keyboard doing the news on KABC this week. Normally I'm in the fiction world and writing screenplays. Since I've been media training authors for book tours for many years (I coached Lisa Lutz of Simon & Schuster's "The Spellman Files" series) I decided to offer an online class this Halloween to ward off scary book tours! Details are on my page here and under EVENTS. Come join me! VJ www.media-trainer.com

SKY PARK is my new novella available at Amazon and Barnes & Nobel.com

OVERVIEW: Dreams…what are they, and why do we have them? I have ventured into the realms of the unconscious. Questioning the persona within my dreams, on the secrets of the dream realms. I have returned with answers that will shock, and leave you spellbound. Join me in my first true-life book of the theories, and realities of the worlds that await us behind closed eyes. I wrote this book, following true events in my life. I’ve been writing from the age of eighteen, and now I’m thirty-five. With so many years in the literary field, I feel my story is ready to be shared with others. It may seem like pure Fiction when you read it. Yet, keep it in mind as you do read that it is far from the realm of mere storytelling. All my life, I have relied upon Dreams to keep me sane. Growing up, my dreams were my only true escape from the harsh reality, some call life.

Do you have a site?

Visual Arts Junction Invites You to Give Presence to Writing Contest Winners

Greetings, My name is Aggie Villanueva, and I’m the founder of the Visual Arts Junction, www.visualartsjunction.com partnership blog.

We’ve started a monthly writing contest with five judges so far. We’ve agreed that as a prize for the winner, their entry will be posted on each of the judge’s blogs. I have three blogs, so that makes eight internet spots where the winning work will show that month.

I want to sweeten the pot for the winner. That’s where you come in. Would you like to be a “supporter?” Supporting involves no money. You just agree to post the winning entry each month on your blog/site. I will write the post, all you need do is post it as is.

This will enhance the winner’s readership, and will be additional free advertising for all of us because each supporters name, blog title and web address with be at the bottom of each month’s post. This will greatly increase our hits.

If you want to participate simply email me at myaggie2@gmail.com and include your name, blog title, and web address. I’m working to get the first contest announcement up within a few days, so I await hearing from you. Let's help promote those beginning writers, and ourselves in the process. Have the best day ever.

Hoping to find a group restricted to authors of fiction, but noticed mostly promotional and marketing info. Is that the focus of this group?
Kenneth Weene Comment by Kenneth Weene on October 6, 2009 at 1:59am
Wanted to share a review of my novel Widow's Walk reviewed by Micki Peluso author and member of Published Authors. Widow's Walk is available on Amazon
Widow's Walk by Kenneth Weene is one of the best narrative novels that I have had the pleasure of reading. Mary Flanagan seems at first a typical Irish-American Catholic matriarch. But she is so much more. To Mary, her deep faith in God and her Church sets her life on a charted journey, so tightly mapped that she has become her Church. Even her personal habit of cleaning her glasses and fluffing her hair is a rigid pattern--never changing throughout her life. For Mary, so much of her hard, often empty life, is set in black and white and she cannot, will not accept shades of gray. Her children seem molded from the same clay until desperation enables her son, Sean, a quadriplegic, courtesy of the Vietnam War, to take a chance on living again. Her daughter, Kathleen, held captive by grief due the loss of her baby and to her mother's stern religious rites, will require time to reclaim her own broken life. Weene's characters are so true to life that the reader not only becomes attached to them but is absorbed into their intricate lives. When the reader least expects it, Mary experiences an epiphany of a different sort. Widowed for years, she falls in love with a man who shows her that it's all right to be happy and free from self-inflicted rigidities. Mary becomes a new person, freed from her own prison, but not from new sorrow and heartache. Weene brings his book to an astonishing close and this reader was sorry to see this most extraordinary story come to an end.
