----------------

Can THIS Be Christmas?

What's all this hectic rush and worry?
Where go these crowds who run and scurry?
Why all the lights - the Christmas trees?
The jolly 'fat man', tell me, please!

Why, don't you know? This is the day
For parties and for fun and play;
Why, this is Christmas!

So this is Christmas, do you say?
But where is Christ this Christmas Day?
Has He been lost among the throng?
His voice drowned out by empty song?

No, He's not there - you'll find Him where
Some humble soul now kneels in prayer,
Who knows the Christ of Christmas.

But see the many aimless thousands
Who gather on this Christmas Day,
Whose hearts have never yet been opened,
Or said to Him, 'Come in to stay'.

In countless homes the candles burning,
In countless hearts expectant yearning
For gifts and presents, food and fun,
And laughter till the day is done.

But not a tear or grief or sorrow
For Him so poor he had to borrow
A crib, a colt, a boat, a bed
Where He could lay His weary head.

I'm tired of all this empty celebration
Of feasting, drinking, recreation;
I'll go instead to Calvary.

And there I'll kneel with those who know
The meaning of that manger low,
And find the CHRIST - this Christmas.

I leap by faith across the years
To that great day when He appears
The second time, to rule and reign,
And end all sorrow, death, and pain.

In endless bliss we then shall dwell
With Him who saved our souls from hell,
And worship CHRIST - not Christmas!

The books on my site www.elizaearsman.com are authenticated and urgent – see e.g. PRESS RELEASE and UNEDITED author interview.

The details in these books affect us all!

Would you be prepared to take some of these books (20+ copies) when you attend Book Fairs/Expos/garden parties etc? Would you be prepared approach your local bookstores? In short would you like to earn 50% commission? The books are mailed from the US. so at this time the request is to the USA/Canada.

The books have supporting material e.g. www.elizaearsman.com and good search engine results/author interviews. The PRESS RELEASE for example can be printed/photocopied and inserted before the first pages. FLIERS can be sent by MS Word doc. and printed.

*Days of Elijah (Revised and Expanded): A True Story is presently No. 15 of the Top 50 non-fiction books via Black Christian Independent Booksellers*.

If you are interested please get back to me. Payment can be made AFTER sale/s.

I look forward to hearing from you. Remember: 50% is a large whack.

Have a great day.

Eliza.

I'm a children's author with a couple of mystery/romance manuscripts for the Inspirational Market. A family member said I was now writing "adult" novels--I hurried to correct that to "novels for grownups." I write from a traditional, evangelical background, but am interested in learning subtlety.

As to the question of "writing for money" I can't say I've made much filthy lucre from my children's books and I'm not holding my breath. My children's stories are mathematical adventure picture books which seek to make math concepts interesting and easily understood. My objective in writing Christian fiction is pretty much the same, to make faith concepts interesting and easily understood. I'm not thinking heavy theological stuff here! And probably no more lucrative than my children's series.

Paul, you said:
"But we also live in a real work, that requires that we sell our works, so we can pay our bills. So, writers need publishers. And publishers need a way to discover the kind of writing talent they are looking for."

I understand what you are saying, and you make a very good point...we do need to pay bills. But, I do not agree with writing for money,or, what publishers want. I know that is a hard stand, and one can find they are standing outside the book store looking in. Writing is an art form. The visions we put to paper come from within. That is not something I want to copy from others. As to religious writing...if we write for a group, are we not saying we believe what the group states as truth?
Coney Woodman Comment by Coney Woodman on December 19, 2008 at 2:41am
Hello,

My name is Coney Woodman, the title of my book is, - God is in Control You Can Relax and Trust Him (God Talks from a Whirlwind). It is base on the last five chapters of the book of Job in the bible. It starts with two quotes form the Bible; that man is born unto trouble and that God is a very present help in the time of trouble. God next speaks from a whirlwind demanding Job to tell Him if he was at the counsel of the foundation of the world, for it was at this meeting everything that exists in the universe was made, set into motion and planned with no detail left to chance. God next demands Job to tell him did he see God when He wrapped water in clouds as a mother would wrap a baby while God broke out a place for the seas. Next God demands Job to tell Him if he can command the morning and does Job know the home of light and darkness. Can Job walk in the depth of the sea to check on the sea springs for God inform Job that He does? God informs Job that the gates of death open their doors for God, will they open for Job. God inform Job that when the hinds calve God is aware of each birth. Moving forward to chapter eighteen God states what are the qualifications you must process to save yourself ; you must have power in your voice like thunder which will cause people to flee, you must deck yourself with majesty and Excellency; array yourself with glory and beauty. You must be able to cast abroad the fury of your wrath while looking at all the proud at the same time and humiliate them. While they are in this humiliated state you must be able to bring them to their knees and have the power to crush them where they are knelling. Then you must have the capability to hide all of their bodies in some place where they will never be found……… I wrote this book targeting Christian audiences, who seek to have a better and fuller understanding of the way which God operates in their day to day life. It will give the reader a better understanding of the forethought which God has put into everything that He has made and done, with a clarity that has not been reveal to the laymen, but only to those who has searched long and hard to attain this information. The Lord has given me the ability to explain His word in such simplicity that children can understand it clearly. I have been a minister for 28 years I was a pastor for 23 years I have spoken over 1500 times to audiences. People who have heard me speak on the Bible will tell me the message which they heard me preach five and 10 years ago, they can remember everything that I said my goal to reach more people. I was on the radio for over 5 years, thousands of my CD’s and tapes are in circulation. My book will leave no doubt in the minds of Christians that God is in control of everything in the universe including the trials and tribulations which each men and women will go through.
For the last five years I have been studying the book of Job (bible). I explain many Hebrew words, so that the reader will have a richer experience reading this book.
What I need is some help in getting this book publish.

Dear friends,
Greetings! Welcome to Christian Writers, Authors & Publishers! I am trying to get Christians writers & authors together to encourage, help and simulate each other to use their God-given talents to write works in any/all genres, that is family friendly, wholesome, brings glory to God, and points the way to salvation, or helps Christians grow in their faith. Maybe we can inspire each other to write the next Pilgrim's Progress, the next Lord of the Rings, or the next Tales of Narnia.

At various times in American literature, there were literary "hotbeds. " In towns like Newhaven CT and Concord MA, there were many successful writer's living and writing at the same time, and they often got together as friends, and discussed their works, personal lives, etc. And at various times and places in history, several artists lived and worked in the same cities at the same time (like Paris and Florence), and often took time out from their work to meet as friend, and talk about their work, their lives, etc. I also think about the friendship and correspondence over the years between C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien. I also think of the wonderful atmosphere and excitement at some of the Christian writer’s conferences I've been to over the years. It is my goal to create those same exciting, energizing, encouraging atmospheres here in this group.

But we also live in a real work, that requires that we sell our works, so we can pay our bills. So, writers need publishers. And publishers need a way to discover the kind of writing talent they are looking for. So I am also trying to create a "virtual market place," where writer/authors and publishers can easily find each other, if they want to be found, and do deals if they want to. But I do not feel that you have to be writing only for Christian markets to be in this group. Some things I am working on I'll prefer to market to Christian publishers (because that is my intended audience), some I will prefer to market to secular publishers (because that is my intended audience), and some I'll prefer to dual publish to both Christian and secular publishers at the same time (because both are my intended audience) .

But I hope all of us writers who claim we are Christians will write to the glory of God, and not write whatever we think will bring big quick bucks (e.g., not erotica, horror, gore, paranormal, supernatural, etc.). It is my hope that we will write truly great classic works that will endure through the ages, and works which God will some day hold up before us, and say "well done, my good and faithful servant! I hope this makes you feel more comfortable, welcome, encouraged, inspired, and energized too! ;-)

Blessings,
Paul
