Out of Time is a science fiction/time travel short novel. Can be found on

Barnes and Noble.
A clone of scientist Stephen Hawking is created by the US government in the 2100's. Their purpose is to get him to invent the means for time traveling, so they can go back and "fix" some events in mostly 20th century history. John Hawking does invent the means for time traveling, using a spaceship with a device for implementing the leap through time. His first test is the first moon landing in 1969, but, he doesn't think anyone will notice the ship, but once the ship returns to the future, he is given a message about an astronomer seeing the ship in 1969. They have to figure out how not to be seen later(or earlier) in history.
Meanwhile, 50 years into the future, the antagonist wants to stop Hawking from changing history. He has his people go to 2156 and steal the ship, which ends up in 1947 Roswell, which was set up by a mysterious group. Hawking and his team travel to 1947 and retrieve the ship, then, from there, they go on the missions the government wants them to go on. The antagonist travels to 1924 to replace a certain FBI Director and he uses his knowledge of the future to stay in power for the next 40+ years.
The time travelers go to 1890 Wounded Knee, then to 1912 for the Titanic sinking, then travel to 1940 Amsterdam and visit Anne Frank, then to 1963 to stop the JFK assassination and find out who was behind the attempt, then they visit the Apollo 13, Skylab, and the Challenger. They return to the future, only to find out things have changed. Will they figure out what went wrong and fix everything to make the future turn out the same way they left it?

Synopsis
Advanced humans, calling themselves Terrans, leave a highly corrupt and mostly primitive Earth to search out a new planet to inhabit. Once on a new planet, they begin exploring the rest of the galaxy and begin watching over their more primitive human cousins back on Earth. Some Terrans are well known in human history, people such as King Arthur, Galileo, Genghis Khan, and Amelia Earhart. The Terrans come across an alien species, called the Ragnor, that experiment on other species for no reason other than that they can. The Ragnor discover Earth by accident and start their abductions and experiments on the first set of humans they come across, the colonists on Roanoke Island. The Ragnor continue to cause mayhem and mischief on Earth, eventually getting shot down over Roswell, New Mexico. Once the humans on Earth figure out they're being manipulated by both sides, President Truman has the United States embark on a plan to pay back both the Terrans and the Ragnor with the technology created by Area 51. Once the plan is initiated, will Earth succeed in its payback or fail gloriously?
