Three Years ago I married my hero. That moved me to West Michigan, and gave me three step-daughters, three grandchildren, and a really big dog! After raising my two boys, I find it much different having daughters now. Different, but nice.
My first novel was published in December of 06. Book two will soon go into production. I'm laid off from my job in middle school, so spent this summer writing and finishing that book, and I'm working on three other novels. I also need a job!
I think it's very important and motivating to network with other writers.
Hello all. I am Jaci Gwyn. I write under the pen name of Gwen Madoc. I write historical romance and family sagas. My favourite eras are mid to late 19th century and early twentieth century. So far I have had eleven published novels under my belt and am just about to finish my twelvth.
Hello fellow authors, my name is John, but all my friends call me Silky. I was born in Bolton Lancashire England. I enlisted in the Army where I met my wife, I was in the Medical Corps and she was in the Queen Alexandra Royal Army Nursing Corps. We now live in Jan’s place of birth which is Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. We have three daughters, six grandchildren and one great grand child.
I’ve always wanted to write but never found the time, then in 2000 I enlisted on a creative writing course. Since then I’ve had one book published and co-written four others and halfway through the fifth. When I say co-written, what I mean is, my friend who hasn’t read a book since leaving school 45 years ago, is the ideas man and I do the writing.
I have also had seven short stories and over seventy poems published in various small press magazines.
My book is a book of anecdotes about some of the incidents that happened while I was serving in the British Army from 5th November 1956 to 1st June 1981
There were bad times and good times. I’m glad to say that the good outweighed the bad. The good times stay with you and, thankfully, the bad fade into antiquity.
I’ve met many brave and outstanding people in my time; they performed their duty for Queen and Country in true military fashion. The surprising thing was that these outstanding men were the bane of the depot drill sergeant’s life. They had two left feet, couldn’t swing their arms and, once dressed in uniform resembled a sack of potatoes tied around the middle with string. One soon learnt that the old saying ‘Never judge a book by its cover’ couldn’t be more apt.
In the telling, many details are left out or taken for granted. The tales themselves are honed on the storytellers’ stone to suit the audience. Items or events are deleted or added to enhance the tale in its best light. In reality, after many recitations by others and me, the truth is often a million miles away from the actual facts.
Welcome to the forum! Good to meet another Lancastrian! I was born in Wigan and my dad's a Bolton fan! My novel, Mr. Planemaker's Flying Machine is set in Lancashire -- in the small town of Pierton. It shouldn't take you long to fathom that out! LOL!
Good luck with the books. I think you and Dick Stodghill will have a lot in common.
You are doing great John! It's only three days since you joined and you already have eleven friends, you've added your book information and posted twice on the forum! To upload a profile photo, click on the link "Change my profile photo" under the photo on your profile page. Then click on the small photo icon to upload a photo. I look forward to seeing you!
My book is under the name Abe F. March. My full name is Abraham Firestone March and decided to use that in this forum. My middle name is my mother's maiden name and a very distant relative to the Tire people.
I met my wife many years ago when stationed in the USAF in Ramstein, Germany. We agreed at that time that she would follow me wherever I went and when I retired, we would retire to her country of birth. I am now retired and living in the wine region in southwest Germany.
I am involved with the local community and also maintain the Fussball (Soccer) field at the Sport Club. I am a member of several choirs and enjoy hiking in the forest. I ride a bicycle and use my car only when necessary.
In addition to my first published book, "To Beirut and Back," I have co-authored a Romance Novel with a Medieval setting with the castles of this region. Currently I am working on a Fiction Novel about America's invasion of Iraq.
Recently I attended my 50th HS Reunion in Pennsylvania. What an interesting event. We fortunately used copies of our HS Yearbook as name tags to help in recognition.
My first published works is scheduled for release within the next 6 to 8 weeks titled Financially Speaking. In short, my book will showcase a time tested proven method that will shhow the reader a simple way to first reduce then eliminate the amount of debt he or she has.
My second (untitled) work is a murder romance mystery novel. I have about 30,000 words and currently working toward completion. For more details view my home page.
I find writting very interesting and rewarding. I just want to learn as much as I can about the craft and, while trying to give something back to both men and women alike. I am looking forward to networking with like minded people on this site.
