My new book, HUMONGOUS BOOK OF CARTOONING" comes out in a week - September 22nd. It's published by Watson-Guptill, which is a division of Random House. I'm really excited about this book. it's the largest book I've ever written, packed with a ton of illustrations... I'm crossing my fingers and hoping for it to be well received.
In November, my next book comes out, from the same publisher, "SUPERHEROES AND BEYOND," also illustrated, in full color.
Hello everyone; I'm new to this group. I am a published author and the president of a small publishing company, Pineapple Publications. We publish non-fiction books on writing, management, and taxation and other similar topics. Although we cannot publish most of the submissions we receive, I think it's great for authors to learn how to self-publish because that's how I started and I've had great success. I maintain a resource page with lots of information for authors who want to self-publish:

I've made some great contacts through the Ning network and I'm guessing this network will be no exception.
Hi,
I am Keshia Lewis, writing under the pen name K.L. Lewis. I currently live in Texas, but originally from a small town in Kentucky. I am a registered nurse in the Army. I have been in the Army for about 15 years, which means I could potentially retire in 5 more. I have been married for almost 11 years, my husband is just retiring from the Army after 20 years, we have a 7 year old boy together. I have written two books: Pure Thoughts 'a book of poetry' released in 2007, but have not been able to promote it yet, due to the military, and Kendra's Pearl 'a novel', I am still waiting on my copies to began promoting this one. My hobbies are writing, singing, bowling, bike riding, eating out, sleeping. I love to sleep!
I'm from Richmond, VA and just found this group a few days ago. I'm looking forward to exploring and reading all the conversations. I have two books already published. The first one published in 2001 is Self Defense for Survival: The Road to Empowerment and is based on personal safety workshops that I've done online and onsite. The other is Winds of Gold, an historical romance, co-written with my late mother under the pen name Jessa Lee Scott.
I've also written numerous articles and a textbook chapter in the field of distance learning. And my next book, which is for online learners, will be published this winter - hopefully no later than mid-March.
I am an online college professor and teach classes for 4-5 different schools. My subjects are English, writing, literature, personal and business communications, and criminal justice. I know, that last one is sort of a "what?" I spent several years in between public school and college teaching working as private investigator and retail loss prevention agent. I also worked as a child advocate and abuse/neglect investigator. So that's basically my work background.
On a personal note, I've been married for 32 years, have two grown sons, one daughter-in-law and three dogs. We won't even start counting the computers and laptops in this house and we use them all! We have an RV parked at a campground year round in Williamsburg VA and most weekends I'm logging in from the campground.
I'm working right now to finish up this current book manuscript and am waiting on chapters from three colleagues. All are fairly new to online teaching and two were former grad students of mine. I was impressed with their work and offered them the opportunity to write a chapter so they could be "published" in their field -- which is a great plus on a CV.
I had a former professor who offered me that opportunity (hence the textbook chapter I wrote) and so now it's my turn to help out others.
And on that note, I'll stop writing because I could go on forever. Looking forward to meeting everyone and sharing ideas about writing and marketing.
I'm new to this group. I am a published author and the proprietor of a publishing services company, Marin Bookworks, located in beautiful Marin County, California.
I self-published Body Types in 1986, revised it and published a second edition in 1992, and have now moved it to print on demand. In those days we self-publishers did everything we could to make our books look like they weren't self-published, and that's a long way from where we are today.
Since I was working in the publishing industry at the time I used all the same vendors the big publishers were using, and my book stayed in print for 16 years.
Now I provide book design and production services for publishers, and help new self-publishers get set up in business and publish their books, handling everything from raw manuscript preparation to bound books. This includes design, typesetting, editing, illustration where needed, indexing, page layout, cover design and dealing with the ins and outs of both offset and digital printing.
This year I've started a blog about publishing issues, and you can find it at www.theBookDesigner.com.
I'm just thrilled with the explosion of interest in self-publishing and the new tools we have to work with. Having launched many self-publishers over the years, this looks like a "golden age" to me.
I'm editing my second book now and hope to have it in print by Spring 2010.
Thanks for reading all the way to the bottom, and I look forward to getting to know more people in this group.
Welcome to the group! What an industrious and creative person you are! Good luck with your blog and your second book!
Edited: I just checked your blog and tried to tweet one of the posts but I received an error message saying that the URL points to the wrong address. Check out the tweeter on your blog.
